The four effect options on each card turn a lucky crit into an actual decision instead of just more damage math. My players now cheer when the deck comes out, and the decapitate result ended a boss fight two rounds early.

My table's been using this for a few sessions now and the decapitate option gets a genuine reaction every time someone draws it. The cards are thick enough that they've survived a lot of shuffling already.

My table's crits used to just be "roll again for damage" and everyone groaned. Now drawing a card and picking one of four effects means a lucky 20 can decapitate something or overload it with raw magic, and the whole table leans in. Best ten bucks I've spent on this campaign.
